Cryptonaute Twitter witnessed the heated exchange between Dietz and MetaMask's established parent company, Consensys. Dietz alleged that a journalist's article in November 2021, which credited him as the founder, resulted in threats from the company.

In response, Consensys vehemently denies these accusations and affirms that Dietz has no affiliation with MetaMask whatsoever. The company stands by the fact that Davis and Finlay have been the true architects of this popular crypto wallet.

With over 30 million users worldwide, MetaMask's user base has skyrocketed due to its user-friendly interface and simplicity. CoinDesk data reveals that MetaMask, under the wings of Consensys, generated over $220 million in swap fees.

Despite its massive success, MetaMask faced challenges this year when approximately 7,000 user accounts suffered a data breach in April. Consensys attributed the security lapse to a third-party service provider, leading to the unauthorized disclosure of users' email addresses.

Nevertheless, MetaMask remains committed to innovation and expansion. Recently, the company joined forces with Fireblocks, aiming to provide a comprehensive solution for institutional investors and developers. By combining Fireblocks' robust security features with MetaMask's ease of use, this integration promises to open new avenues for over 1,800 users of Fireblocks' services to explore decentralized applications.
